They do not have a repeat (= pattern repetition in the longitudinal thread run) and are therefore unsuitable for kaleidoscope blocks.<\/li>\n<li>Please do not use panel fabrics (panels), they exceed our time frame.<\/li>\n<li>The piece of fabric should be continuous, i.e. not pieced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Patterns and colours<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Colours: bright and rich in contrast!<\/li>\n<li>Patterns should be as curvy as possible, so do not use grid or line patterns.<\/li>\n<li>Pattern size: mixed, from tiny to palm-sized and larger dominant pattern is about palm-sized (approx. 10*10 cm)<\/li>\n<li>Repeat length approx. 30 cm; more is always possible, but it should not be less<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Examples from my fabric stash:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiltfest.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IHarz_Kaleidoskop_Sample1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1582\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quiltfest.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IHarz_Kaleidoskop_Sample1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiltfest.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IHarz_Kaleidoskop_Sample2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1583\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quiltfest.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IHarz_Kaleidoskop_Sample2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Fabric requirements<\/h2>\n<p>We are sewing hexagons and need 6 times the repeat length, so e.g. 6 x 30 cm = 180 cm. (I would then buy 200 cm with a safety margin). Please do not piece!<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation for the course<\/h2>\n<p>We do not work the whole fabric, but only half the fabric width (approx. 50 cm) over the whole length of the fabric. This will result in enough hexagons for a small quilt.<br \/>\nMost of the fabrics are half broken.
