Birgit Schüller

Birgit’s work covers a wide spectrum of activities from longarm quilting as a business to creating fiber artwork.

Lately, she has started to work more freely with a new focus on fiber art.

Her artistic journey promises to remain exciting.

Besides her work as an artist, one of her goals is to help raise awareness for quilted works to be considered art with the same recognition and reputation as paintings or sculptures.

In her functions as co-ordinator for Germany for the World Quilt Competition by Mancuso, as Handi Quilter Ambassador and Educator and as patchwork/quilting teacher she attends and works at many shows and events all over Europe and around the globe.

She believes in networking and sharing. It’s no secret that she’s widely available to answer questions, to give advise based on her own experience, to help organize events and to work out ideas – all the while striving to strengthen the quilters‘ confidence and to promote and support the highly diverse world of quilting and the art quilt!

Having been approached with the inquiry to become the regional rep for the SAQA Europe & Middle East region came as a surprise – accepting this challenge felt somewhat like the logical next step in her endeavor as quilter and fiber artist!
